Welcome to the UNISON Torbay Schools Portal

With the large amount of information that UNISON Torbay Local Government Branch has to pass on to its members and interested parties, it was decided to separate out Schools and Health and Safety in to their own portals.

This will allow those who are need to know what UNISON is doing in, or campaigning on within Torbay Schools, to find the information they need easily, without having navigate through the main Branch Site

The Main Focus of this portal is to promote UNISON membership to Schools Support Staff. With Job Evaluation finally in full swing, and the prospect of National Terms and Conditions around the corner, UNISON wants to create a solid base of School Support Staff so that we can get a true reflection of opinion and status for negotiations.

UNISON is only as strong as its' membership, and the broader base our schools support staff membership is, the stronger our position in negotiations will be.

UNISON feels that it's High Time that school Support Staff got the recognition (and Pay!) they deserve, and has campaigned hard for a fair pay structure. The National Body due to be implemented on September the 1st this year (2008) is only the beginning. This Branch is lucky to have one of the 2 South West representatives on the 'Shadow' negotiating body, and has direct access to the negotiation mechanism because of this.

The Branch is also fully involved in the recognised consultative committee for Childrens' Services, regularly attending consultation meetings on behalf of its' members, and getting the views of the members heard by management.
