Consultation
Torbay Local Government Branch of UNISON has worked hard recently, aided greatly by UNISON South West Regional Officers to build up a network of Schools Based Representatives. We have also worked hard to establish a consultation network with our schools based members.
When Torbay Council calls a meeting to consult its' employees, UNISON helps to provide representatives to talk with employer representatives. The meeting for Schools Based Staff is called the Childrens Services Joint Consultative Committee (CSJCC), although it encompasses other areas of Childrens Services, such as Childrens Social Care, also.
UNISON Currently represents its members with Two Representatives at the CSJCC from Schools Staff, and at least one from the Childrens Social Services area.
Even VA/Foundation/Faith schools can be affected by changes made in these consultation processes, as Local Authority Policies and Procedures are seen as 'Benchmarks' for those schools not currently under Local Authority Control.
